It was 7:45 in the morning. Jessica had three kids in the back of her 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan, two of them still in pajamas, all of them late for school. She was coming through Standish on Route 25 when the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree and the van shuddered to a stop on the shoulder.
No AAA. No husband to call. Work started in two hours. Three kids staring at her from the back seat.
She spotted Up Front Auto Repair less than a mile back. She called. Jon picked up on the second ring.
Twenty minutes later the van was at the shop. Serpentine belt — snapped clean through. Parts were local. Jon had her van running and her kids delivered to school (her neighbor helped with that part) before 10AM. She made it to work on time.
"I was in full panic mode," she said. "He was completely calm. Told me exactly what it was, exactly what it would cost, and just handled it. I actually cried in the parking lot — good tears."
The big chains would have had her waiting three days for a "loaner vehicle appointment." The dealership would have charged double. Jon fixed the problem, charged her fairly, and got her day back on track.
